The superbly organised Stockholm marathon was held on Saturday 28 May 2011, with a record 20,627 participants. The course ran through the centre of Stockholm and the royal park of Djurgården. During the race the runners pass such famous buildings as the royal palace, the opera hall and the parliament building. A large part of the race is run alongside and over the water.
